Former Nevada Highway Patrol Sergeant Indicted in DUI Fatality

DUI, DUI attorney, Driving Under The Influence, Driving While Intoxicated

A former Nevada Highway Patrol sergeant has been indicted in connection with a crash that killed one person and left two others injured.

Edward Lattin is charged with felony driving under the influence resulting in death. Lattin, who investigated DUI crashes before he resigned from the NHP, is accused of smoking marijuana before the fatal crash. He faces 20 years in prison if convicted.

Unlike drunk driving, which has a defined legal limit of .08 percent BAC in all 50 states, driving under the influence of drugs, or DUID cases, are much more complex. For example, while a blood or urine test may show that a defendant had drugs in his or her system, it is difficult to establish whether the person was under the influence at the time of a crash.

If you’ve been charged with DUI / DWI involving alcohol or drugs, you face extremely serious consequences that could include jail or prison time. However, these repercussions may be avoided with an aggressive defense. To consult with an experienced DUI / DWI attorney, contact 1800DUILaws.com today at 1.800.DUI.LAWS for a free consultation.
