The sheriff of Palm Beach County, Florida plans to perform forced blood draws on drunk driving suspects during a DUI sweep planned for later this month.
Drivers arrested on suspicion of Florida DUI normally have the option of refusing a blood or breath test but must suffer the severe consequences of doing so. However, on February 27 and 28, sheriff’s deputies will apply for a search warrant from an on-call judge so that they can forcibly take blood from suspected DUI drivers who refuse chemical tests.
